Climate Change

Climate Change & Health Problems – Other Contributing Factors

I think it is a bit frightening to have our President openly declaring that his daughter’s asthma has now made Climate Change ‘personal’ to him.  I have absolutely nothing against people who believe in Climate Change, because I share in the sentiment that it is changing, does change, and has changed for thousands of years.  I do have a real problem with trying to blame health problems like asthma on Climate Change specifically, because I think there may be some other contributing variables to this – variables that we CAN control and be actionable versus just spout vitriolic rhetoric at each other.

1. Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) – Our federal government had the audacity to allow GMO products into our food supply without any type of labeling, without telling the American public, and while protecting Monsanto and associated companies from culpability (see the ‘Monsanto Protection Act’).  GMOs, which have not been adequately studied, may have drastic effects not only on our health – but on our genetics – so that problems with GMO foods may actually not be seen until the next generation.  This is something the federal government HAS control over, and could immediately do something about.  But, instead of protecting the American public’s health – they have aided the enemy – the companies that created these GMO products.

2. Radiation – Our country, Russia, and several other countries have, since the invention of nuclear warfare, been setting off these types of bombs.  They do this far away from ‘the public’, however, fail to recognize that this type of fallout, doesn’t go away and can traverse the globe through sea and sky.  In addition to the use of nuclear weapons, there is the use of nuclear power, that can fail – like that of Fukushima.  Instead of focusing time and effort on how to protect humans from the continued leakage of radiation – our federal government is focusing on climate change as a direct cause for sickness.  Call me crazy – but shouldn’t we worry about what we absolutely know about first?  Radiation is extremely deadly – right now, to everyone equally.  All I am asking for is a prioritization of what we know and what we can control.  Control is the key here.  The major CO2 polluters – India and China – don’t have to obey any laws on climate – and therefore, we MUST focus on what we CAN control and do something about NOW!

3. Strange and Secretive Adventures into Science – The Large Hadron Collider, which can smash atoms together at the speed of light – is an amazing creation, that could very well tell us many neat things about the Universe.  However, if we are worried about Climate Change affecting human health, shouldn’t some of this time, energy, and expense go to making sure we protect humanity by cleaning up the air?  On that note, HAARP (High-frequency Active Auroral Research) created in 1997 and located in Alaska, has the ability to shoot rays of energy into the atmosphere from strategically placed antennas.  These highly concentrated rays of energy could, in theory, burn a hole in the ionosphere.  Remember the whole Climate Change thing?  Well, imagine our government heating up the ozone and burning a hole in the ionosphere – those are things that could contribute to the problems we are having.  This is something that we DO have control over – why isn’t our government doing anything about it (supposedly the U.S. Air Force has told Congress its intent to shut this facility down, but I am not buying that)?

This is not about whether you believe in Climate Change or not.  The fact is – people ARE getting sick, from a myriad of different things, and I feel it is important to address those things that we can absolutely control and DO something about.  Because I really CARE about the health of our country – and if our “leadership” really cared – they would actually do something that made a difference.  Like, require the labeling of GMO foods to let people make an individual and independent choice of what they want to consume.  Like, focus taxpayer money  on protecting people from the radiation still coming from Fukishima.  Like, truly stopping and destroying HAARP so that this machine could never be used in warfare, which could result in the destruction of mankind.

The President is not my King.  I do take what is happening in the environment very personally, as we all should.  And surely some common sense can prevail in direct causes and effects of the issues and health problems that we face.
